Güney is 2025 Dean’s Honoree for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching
Think about your work duties that are most significant to you. Next, think about being recognized specifically for that part of your job. You now have an idea of how Şule Güney is feeling presently.
The assistant professor of teaching in the Department of Psychology is the 2025 School of Social Ecology Dean’s Honoree for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.
"I’m deeply honored to be recognized as the 2025 Dean’s Honoree for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching,” Güney says. “Teaching is the most meaningful part of my work, and I’m continually inspired by the curiosity, creativity, and resilience of our UCI students. Being part of the School of Social Ecology, with its diverse and engaged student community, makes this recognition especially meaningful. This award reflects the joy I find in helping students grow as thinkers and as people.”
Each year, the prestigious recognition honors faculty, instructors and graduate students who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to undergraduate teaching at UC Irvine. These educators are nominated by peers, students and staff.
Since its founding in 1992, the Celebration of Teaching has recognized more than 300 professors, lecturers and teaching assistants for their exceptional contributions to student learning and academic success.
“This year’s winners continue that proud tradition, inspiring us all with their dedication, creativity, and impact in the classroom,” states the Division of Teaching Excellence and Innovation (DTEI), which presents the awards.
Güney, other schools’ Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching honorees and other 2025 DTEI award winners will be recognized and congratulated at the Celebration of Teaching Awards Ceremony on Sept. 18, after UCI Teach Day.
The ceremony runs from 4:30-6:30 p.m. that day at the University Club, 801 E. Peltason Dr., Irvine.
